The mentor expos
é

"Wanna just act like the doorbell's broken again?"

Sorchia, one of the funniest people ever to play the game, sent me this submission on April 17, 2000. It has been sitting in a folder for over nineteen years, waiting for your eyes.

"okay, yah if its not too much trouble to make a section for me, that'd be cool.  just call it sorchia's guide to elanthia or whatever whenever you make it, its basically just gonna be satiric guides like my sorcerer guide.  this doesn't really fit into any category, but I wrote an expose on the mentors if you want to use it...i'm gonna insert it and attatch because i don't know which will work for you."

[Silverwood Manor, Courtyard]
Stone cobbles lead from a wrought-iron gate to the door of an elegant building resting in the center of an expanse of green lawn.  Borders of waxy green boxwood interspersed with pale yellow roses hem in either side of the path.  Close-cropped grass stretches away from the borders towards a stone wall.  You also see a sign you really should READ, a silver bell with a long silken rope, a donation bin and a very important placard.
Obvious paths: east, out.
Also here: Mentor Sorchia, Lady Juspera, Lady Shoshonna, Deter, Xeldria and Lord Zodier.

Sorchia smiles.

Sorchia says, "Thank for coming.  There is a lot of controvery surround the Lorekeeper Society in the Lands.  In hopes of addressing some of the rumors about the Mentors, let us begin with your questions."

Juspera asks, "How do you address the matter of mentors being seen as GM favorites?  Especially regarding privileges and favors that other players don't get?"

Sorchia says, "Although you will hear that we do not get benefits, it simply isn't true.  In fact, it a well crafted conspiracy designed to hold you down."

Zodier says, "ah, the public was made to believe that you are volunteers who do this on their own time and put in a lot of work.  Not all of us are that easily fooled."

Zodier winks.

Sorchia says, "Nothing gets by you, Zodier"

Sorchia asks, "Next question?"

Shoshonna asks, "What's in the back rooms through the Mentor Only door?"

Sorchia says, "Very good question, I'm glad you asked."

Sorchia says, "Why don't I take you all on a little tour of the backroom?  Hopefully this will answer a many of your questions and address the rumors the meddlesome public have been speculating on."

Sorchia smiles.

Sorchia says, "Follow me"

You follow Sorchia's group through a silver door.

[Silverwood Manor, Foyer]
Silver-veined black marble walls enclose this expansive room.  An ornate golden velvet rug rests upon the plush cyan carpeting.  Various paintings adorn the polished walls and a carved oaken bench sits in one corner.  You also see an engraved haon door and a silver door.
Also here:  Lady Melusine who is seated, Mentor Sorchia, Lady Juspera, Lady Shoshonna, Deter, Xeldria and Lord Zodier.

Melusine beams!

Melusine exclaims, "Greetings Sorchia!"

Melusine asks, "Need any work done today?"

Sorchia gives Melusine a smooch.

Melusine gives Sorchia a smooch.

Sorchia says, "Not today, just giving a tour, thanks though, Mel"

Sorchia grins.

Melusine says, "Any time hon."

Sorchia waves.

You follow Sorchia's group through an engraved haon door.
[Silverwood Manor, Corridor]
This hallway is enclosed by richly varnished maoral walls.  An magnificant oval mirror adorns the south wall.  Your attention is directed to an intricately carved vanity set against the woodwork.  Brightly glowing candles illuminate the room in a soothing light.  You also see an engraved haon door, an ivory staircase, a brass door, a sign and several bins.
Also here: Mentor Sorchia, Lady Juspera, Lady Shoshonna, Deter, Xeldria and Lord Zodier.

>look sign
There appears to be something written on it.

>read sign
It reads:  Dip weapons in ORANGE bin to be enchanted.  Dip magical items in GREEN bin to be recharged.  Dip armor in RED bin to be padded.  Dip items to be lightened in BLUE bin.  Failure to put your item in the corresponding bin may result in damage to your item so please be careful.

GameMaster Brauden appears in a puff of smoke!

Brauden hugs Sorchia.

Sorchia grins at Brauden.

Brauden blinks.

Brauden says, "er...Sorchia..."

Brauden says, "This is a mentor only area, you know that.  The entire operation could collapse if we allowed the players to see the backrooms."

Sorchia says, "Don't worry about them, they're okay"

Brauden asks, "You sure?"

Sorchia nods.

Sorchia asks, "Brauden, why don't you let the group see how the mentor net works?"

Brauden grins.

Brauden says, "hmm why not..."

Brauden smiles.

Drexla grins.

Brauden says, "alright, it should be working for everyone now."

Sorchia beams at Brauden!

Sorchia says, "Thanks a lot Brauden, we gotta keep going, see you later."

Brauden waves.

Brauden vanishes in a puff of smoke!

Your mind tingles with the Doorman's thoughts, "Novice Nytelair just rang the doorbell, will someone please assist him?"

Your mind tingles with Aurien's thoughts, "again?"

Your mind tingles with Lochraven's thoughts, "I'm not gettin it."

Your mind tingles with Turgen's thoughts, "well I'm not either."

Your mind tingles with Truekillr's thoughts, "wanna just act like the doorbell's broken again?"

Your mind tingles with Ylena's thoughts, "sounds good"

Your mind tingles with Bronnwyn's thoughts, "works for me"

You follow Sorchia's group up an ivory staircase.

[Silverwood Manor, Party Room]
Several large couches and chairs occupy this spacious room.  A dartboard hangs on one wall, obviously worn from use.  Twin moaral tables sit in the corner, lavished with refreshments for the elite members of the Society.  A large bay window provides a view of the expansive lawn below.
You also see an ivory staircase, some carved french doors, the closet, a plaque and a small lever.
Also here: Mentor Sorchia, Lady Juspera, Lady Shoshonna, Deter, Xeldria and Lord Zodier.

Deter gazes at his surroundings.

Xeldria leans on Sorchia.

Peam glances at a plaque.

>read plaqu
It reads:  Reallocation Closet.

>go closet
Someone is already in there.  You must wait your turn.

You glance at a small lever.

Sorchia nudges you.

Sorchia grins.

Sorchia says, "Go ahead, give it a pull."

You grin.

You pull the small lever.
An old memory bubbles up from your past.  With a sudden flash of insight, you realize that the memory is a pleasant one.  It is good to be alive and an adventurer in the lands.

You say, "whoa"

Sorchia winks at you.

Ketum asks, "Whats that?"

Drexla asks, "Can I try?"

Sorchia says, "I'm afraid we don't have much time, we have to keep going."

You follow Sorchia's group through some carved french doors.

[Silverwood Manor, Treasure Room]
Bins, baskets, shelves and cabinets of all sizes fill this large room.  A donated bin sits beneath a chute in the center of the room.  In the corner, a bank teller sits behind a glass window, waiting to help you.  You also see a wastebasket, some carved french doors and a dark panel.
Also here:  Mentor Amerlise, Mentor Sistermarie, Mentor Annorax, Mentor Psionix, Mentor Sorchia, Lady Juspera, Lady Shoshonna, Deter, Xeldria and Lord Zodier.

>l fourth bin
You see nothing unusual.

Sorchia waves.

Sorchia whisper to the group, "All the items donated by players end up in this room."

Sistermarie removes a soft golden-beaded shawl from a cabinet.

Sistermarie exclaims, "This is so cute!"

Sistermarie drapes a soft golden-beaded shawl around her shoulders.

Amerlise says, "looks good on you."

Amerlise is admiring Sistermarie.

Annorax says, "let me know if anyone finds any black boots, preferably leather."

Psionix puts a golden wand in his cloak.

Amerlise says, "few good deed gems in the silver bucket."

You follow Sorchia's group through a dark panel.
[Silverwood Manor, Sitting Room]
A plush deep red carpet lines the freshly waxed mahogany floor in this comfortable room.  Rich brocade curtains tied back with golden braiding frame a large window against the north wall.  Several cushions have been strewn about the floor to provide a place for Society members to relax and talk.
You also see a dark panel, an iron door and a threadbare curtain.
Also here: GameMaster Ophion, Mentor Sorchia, Lady Juspera, Lady Shoshonna, Deter, Xeldria and Lord Zodier.

Ophion says, "Oh, Sorchia, I'm glad you're here, I wanted to run a few ideas by you before we release them to the little people."

Sorchia wails!

Sorchia says, "I can't, I'm giving a tour, I can look over it later."

Ophion nods.

Ophion gives Sorchia a firm punch and backs away from her.

You follow Sorchia's group through a threadbare curtain.

[Silverwood Manor, Secret Room]
You are in a nexus of hidden rooms.  Narrow corridors lead in several directions.  You also see a glowing door with a sign above it.
Also here: Mentor Sorchia, Lady Juspera, Lady Shoshonna, Deter, Xeldria and Lord Zodier.
Obvious exits: north, south, east, west, northwest, southwest, northeast, southeast, up, down, out.

You follow Sorchia's group north.

Sorchia smiles.

Sorchia sits down.

Sorchia says, "I hope that your tour through the backrooms of Silverwood Manor satisfied your curiousity.  Remember to tell no one what you've seen today."

Sorchia says, "We must never let the public confirm their suspicions.  Should people find out the great secrets behind the Mentor society, it could destroy us all."

Sorchia smiles.

Sorchia says, "I must excuse myself now, thank you for coming, and remember what I said."

You bow to Sorchia.

Sorchia smiles at you.

You say, "thank you Mentor Sorchia"

>out
[Wehnimer's, Erebor Square]
This quiet corner resembles a calm island amid the bustling life of Wehnimer's Landing.  At the west end, a low, broad dome is visible.  In the center of the square, several benches of polished wood and smooth stone surround a sculpture.  Cast in bronze, the work inspires a sense of peace, calm and strength that wells up from the depths of your soul.  A gold plaque mounted on a gracefully chiseled malachite base stands before it.  You also see a gypsy fortuneteller, The Wehnimer's Museum and an ironwork gate.
Obvious paths: north, south, west.
